Public Policy
BioEchoes is actively involved in analyzing and recommending changes to address inadequacies in public policy at the state, national, and international levels related to injury prevention and road traffic safety, particularly for women and children.
State Level
BioEchoes has briefed the Alabama Governor’s Chief Policy Director and Alabama Legislature on the safety gaps in the state’s restraint laws and presented them with model legislation to upgrade the current laws. Dr. Martha Bidez currently serves as technical safety advisor to VOICES for Alabama’s Children, a statewide public policy advocacy organization for child wellbeing.
National Level
BioEchoes has provided numerous technical reports and commentary to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
International Level
Dr. Martha Bidez currently serves as the Engineering Team Leader of EDU-CAR, a child passenger safety initiative in Montevideo, Uruguay. She has also provided briefings to UNASEV, the transportation regulatory authority in Uruguay.
